Portimao is in the south of Portugal in the southeast zone of Algarve, close to Cabo de San Vicente. There are many ways of how to get there: by plane, by boat, in train, or by car. The closest airport to Portimao is Faro Airport.

By Plane

To get there by plane, you should book a flight for Faro Airport, only 30 minutes away by car.

By Train

Portimao has a train station and you can get here either from taking a train from Lisbon or from the Spanish border.

By highway or motorway

This is the most common way to get to Portimao. If you are coming from Spain, you should come through the south on the E-1, the highway that connects Seville with Huelva and with Portugal. Cross the Puente del Centenario. Then take the A-22 motorway to Faro, and there you will connect with the A-2, until you get to Portimao. There are also buses from the main Portuese and Spanish cities.
