Alvor is a popular destination for vacation in Portimao, and is different from this city as it isn´t so developed. Many of its streets are filled with bars, restaurants, and places in which you can see live music. Even so, there is still a feel here of being a little fishing village.

The city is located next to a natural lagoon that opens up to the sea. It is a place where you will find extensive golden sandy beaches and even some caves. Many important windsurf and kitesurf competitions are celebrated on its beaches every year.
